Function and effect: It is an ester formed by sorbitol and different higher fatty acids, such as Span-20 (SP-20) is a lauric acid ester; Span-80 (SP-80) is a monolauric acid ester. It has emulsifying effect.
Usage and dosage: For preparing water-in-oil emulsions.
The original process of Span-80 is to use vacuum esterification method. During the reaction, the water generated in the reaction is constantly removed to facilitate the formation of a favorable reaction equilibrium in the direction. However, due to the high reaction temperature and the relatively low water vapor partial pressure in the reaction system (less than 40 mmHg), the control of side reactions is extremely difficult, resulting in extremely unstable product quality, large variation in viscosity, and poor emulsifying performance.

Xylitolan di-lauroylate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C18H34O6. It is a pale yellow oily liquid that can dissolve in organic solvents and oils, and forms a semi-gel solution in water. It is produced by dehydrating and closing a ring from xylitol, and then reacting with lauric acid for esterification. It is mainly used in cosmetics, medicine, and the textile industry, as an oil-in-water emulsifier, wetting agent, and mechanical lubricant, etc. It is a non-ionic surfactant and is used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener, lubricant, softener, antistatic agent, dispersant, solvent aid, rust inhibitor, finishing agent, and spinning aid, etc.

Shirahama Tan Mono Stearate is an organic compound with the molecular formula of C24H46O6. The pure form is a beige flake or brownish waxy substance. It is non-toxic. The relative density ranges from 0.98 to 1.03. It is insoluble in cold water, glycerol, ethanol, isopropanol, paraffin oil, soybean oil and lard oil. It forms a gel in hot water and can be dispersed in hot glycerol. It appears turbid in hot xylene. It belongs to non-ionic type surfactants. It is an oil-in-water emulsifier. Its LD50 for mice orally is >15000 mg/kg, and the ADI value is 0 - 25 mg/kg. It is obtained by esterification reaction of stearic acid and sorbitol in the presence of sodium hydroxide, followed by bleaching and slicing [1]. It is used as an emulsifier and defoamer in the industries of pesticides, plastics, cosmetics, medicine, coatings, textiles, and food.

Span 80 is a yellow oily liquid that can be dispersed in warm water and ethanol. It is soluble in organic solvents such as propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, ethanol, methanol or ethyl acetate, with an HLB value of 4.3. It is commonly used as an emulsifier for oil-in-water type emulsions. This product is mainly used as a solubilizer or emulsifier for injections and oral liquids; a dispersant for capsules; an emulsifier and base for ointments; and a base for suppositories. It is also used as an emulsifier in the food industry.

1. It dissolves in oils and organic solvents and disperses in water as a semi-gel-like liquid.

In the production of medicine and cosmetics, it is used as an O/W type emulsifier, stabilizer, plasticizer, lubricant, and drying agent; in the textile industry, it is used as a softener, anti-static agent, and finishing agent; it is also used as a mechanical lubricant; as an additive anti-fog agent, it has good initial and low-temperature anti-fog droplet properties, suitable for PVC (1 - 1.5%), polyolefin films (0.5 - 0.7%), and EVA films.

1. This product is insoluble in water. In hot water, it forms a dispersed state. It is a good w/o type emulsifier, possessing strong emulsifying, dispersing and lubricating properties. It is also a good stabilizer and defoamer.

In the food industry, it is used as an emulsifier in the production of beverages, candy, ice cream, bread, pastries, malted milk, artificial cream, chocolate, etc.; in the textile industry, it is used as an anti-static agent for acrylic fibers and a component of softening and oiling agents; in the food, pesticide, medicine, cosmetics, coating, and plastic industries, it is used as an emulsifier and stabilizer; as a fog inhibitor for PVC, EVA, PE and other films, the dosage in PVC is 1.5 - 1.8%, and in EVA it is 0.7 - 1%. 1. It is insoluble in water but soluble in hot oil and organic solvents. It is a high-grade hydrophilic emulsifier.
2. It is used in W/O type latex explosives, nylon and viscose cord linings, and is effective in smoothing fibers. It is used for emulsification in machinery, coatings, chemicals, and explosives. It acts as an emulsifier in oil drilling weighting mud; as an emulsifier in food and cosmetic production; as a dispersant in the paint and coating industries; as a stabilizer in titanium dioxide production; as a pesticide, wetting agent, and emulsifier in pesticide production; as a solvent aid in petroleum products; and can also be used as a rust inhibitor. It is used as a lubricant and softener for textiles and leather.
3. As a film anti-droplet agent, it has good initial and low-temperature anti-droplet properties. The dosage in PVC is 1-1.5%, and in polyolefins it is 0.5-0.7%. S-85
1. Slightly soluble in isopropanol, tetrachloroethylene, cottonseed oil, etc.
