Sodium bisulfate, with the chemical formula C4H7NaO4, also known as diacetic acid sodium or bisacetic acid sodium, and sold under the trade name Vita-crop (Vita-Colorado), is a stable and low-cost new type of food and feed anti-mold agent, acid flavoring agent and improver. It has been designated as a safe substance by the US Food and Drug Administration and has the functions of highly efficient mold prevention, preservation, freshness enhancement, improving palatability, increasing nutritional value, and promoting growth. It is now widely used in livestock and poultry feed.

Sodium diacetate is a white crystalline substance with an acetic acid odor. It is prone to moisture absorption and readily dissolves in water. It decomposes at temperatures above 150°C and is flammable. It is stable under cool and dry conditions. Sodium diacetate mainly exerts its antibacterial effect through the molecular state acetic acid it decomposes into. It has good inhibitory ability against bacteria and molds. Sodium diacetate is an unregulated substance with an ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) and is classified as a GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) substance by the US FDA.
Sodium diacetate is a molecular complex of sodium acetate and acetic acid, a white hygroscopic crystalline solid with an acetic acid odor. It decomposes at temperatures above 150°C and is flammable. 1 gram of sodium acetate can dissolve in approximately 1 mL of water, and the pH of a 10% aqueous solution is 4.5 to 5.0.

Products Application

1. Adding 0.1-0.2% (1-2 kilograms per ton) of SDA to the feed can effectively prevent mold growth in the feed and extend the storage period by 1-2 months; adding 0.1-0.3% of SDA to the compound feed can preserve the feed for 3-5 months.
2. As a nutritional flavoring agent
Adding 0.05-0.2% of SDA to the pellet compound feed can increase the protein utilization rate of the feed by 11%, increase the weight gain of fish by more than 10%, and increase the weight gain of piglets by 6-8%. In the milk compound feed, adding it in an appropriate amount can effectively increase the milk protein content of dairy cows.
3. As a disinfectant
Adding 0.1-0.2% of SDA to aquatic feed can effectively prevent fish diseases caused by the same microorganisms and can be used as a clarifying disinfectant for fish ponds; adding 0.05-0.3% of SDA to poultry feed can prevent diarrhea in chickens and increase the survival rate of the brooding period by more than 10%.
4. Application of Sodium Diethyl Dicarboxylate in Weaned Pig Feed
Adding 0.3% of sodium diethyl dicarboxylate to the feed can increase the daily weight gain of weaned piglets by 10.8% compared to those without addition, and has a significant impact on the daily feed intake of weaned piglets. Adding sodium diethyl dicarboxylate can significantly increase the feed conversion rate of weaned piglets (by 10.5%), mainly because sodium diethyl dicarboxylate improves the utilization rate of nitrogen and energy in the feed.
Packaging and Storage
1. The inner packaging of sodium diethyl dicarboxylate is made of plastic bags, and the outer packaging is made of kraft paper bags. The net weight is 25KG.
2. During storage, it should be sealed, stored at low temperature, protected from moisture and sunlight. Do not mix it with alkaline substances or toxic substances. During the processing of feed additives and feed, avoid high temperatures to prevent the decomposition of sodium diethyl dicarboxylate and reduce its edible effect.
